Who’s that guy???

People these days are so busy with their work that they don’t get time for themselves, let alone be their family members. Marriage is such an occasion where people get to know and spend time with their relatives after eons. More than the planned events, there are many unplanned and unexpected turn of events that takes place during the occasion but unfortunately we get to see only what is being showcased.

“I’m getting so bored with these marriages Rhea, every year someone or the other gets married and I don’t even have a boyfriend” said Pooja to her cousin Rhea, her best buddy in the family.
“Who asked you not to date?, keep looking you might find someone in this wedding wearing blue and black just like you” said Rhea. ”I wish” gasped Pooja
“But please, spare Rahul”
“Who is Rahul, is he good looking?” asked Pooja eagerly.
“He is the groom” Rhea couldn’t stop her laughter and she burst out laughing.
“Very funny, you keep making fun I’m going to get married pretty soon”
“Good luck with that” and she continued to laugh.
“I’ll go check on the bride, poor girl she will be bored without me and u keep laughing your way to mental hospital”
Rhea continued laughing. Pissed off with her comments, Pooja stormed out from the vicinity.
She went to the kitchen to have some water. A group of guys were chatting and laughing out loud. “Guys in jeans, so boring. Why can’t they wear something traditional at least for a wedding”, thought she. Had her water and took a 180 degree turn just to spill the remaining water on a guy.In a shocked state, she repeated the word sorry a million times. Looking at her sheer pace the guy got shocked and started consoling her. Both were talking non-stop trying to stop each other. An old lady who was watching this silently came closer to them, snatched the glass from Pooja and dropped it. Both of them not knowing what her intension was, stopped talking and that’s when they noticed that the glass was empty and there was never a drop in it to spill. Both started to laugh till their stomach ached.
Pooja was with the bride helping her out with her attire, getting ready for sangeet. Rhea entered to check on Pooja as she was getting bored talking to all the oldies. To her surprise Pooja was all smiles and there was no hint of anger on her face.
Rhea held Pooja’s hand and barged out to one corner of the marriage hall.
“Who? What? When? Where? ” Rhea couldn’t wait for Pooja to answer. Pooja burst out laughing, ”Curious Madam Curie” said she.
“You and your pjs, tell me tell me” Rhea was not the one to stop.
“Yup, I met someone,” saying this she started walking.
“Dum dum dumakku Dam Dam damakku Dum dum dumakku Dam dam” before Pooja could say anything the music started playing in the background, supposedly that was her introduction for the sangeet. Don’t ask me why and how she got an intro but yes that’s how it was, she was always in limelight more so even than the bride and the groom.
Pooja started running towards the stage. As she went close to the stage she started to lip sync for “Chalka chalkare Khalsi ka paani” simultaneously doing some dance moves,. She entered the stage from the left, palpitating very badly. Everybody’s attention was on Pooja. She even made sure that her attire matched the decorations on the stage. The blue and white drapes totally complemented her attire. Rhea was in one corner watching Pooja perform on stage. A guy came close and stood next to Rhea. He asked Rhea who she was.  With a broad smile on her face she responded “That’s Pooja, our cousin she is always in the limelight. Now she’ll make people regret coming to the wedding, wait and watch”. Dancing to the songs Pooja stepped down from the stage and caught hold of one of her cousin, dragged him to the center stage and started dancing around him. Poor guy didn’t know what to do but maintained a straight face. As soon as she turned to the other side he ran for his life and the crowd exploded with laughter. With mischievous eyes she scanned the crowd and found the kitchen guy. She was awe struck. Previously she didn’t really notice how handsome he was. She didn’t even notice that he was the desi prince charming, wearing a blue black pathani salwar. She managed to share a smile and was glad that he reciprocated. She moved on and this time she held the bride and brought her on stage. The bride maintained her dignified persona with some minimal moves. She again went down doing her dance moves all the way to get the groom as planned but her eyes met with the kitchen guy and this time he seemed to have come much closer. Not only that but she felt like he winked at her. For a second she didn’t know what to do. She started blushing, and forgot where she was but snapped out of it the next minute. She went blank and held the hand of the next guy sitting close to her and half way through everybody started laughing as she was supposed to bring the groom and not his father. She immediately snapped out of it as she heard people laugh and knew that something went wrong. She stopped and without even looking at who it was, fell on his feet and came up with a broad smile. He obviously had to reciprocate the same. After blessing her he went and sat down. She went back to get the groom, and tried hard not to look at that guy. But that didn’t happen. She found him laughing. Just to hide her embarrassment she turned towards the groom who was laughing even badly. Yet she managed to maintain that smile on her face and pulled him by the arm so hardly that he shrieked in pain. The event went on smoothly after that. It was not her first time hosting and definitely not her first time erring.

Everybody was heading towards the dinner hall for some evening snacks. They had planned Sangeet and reception on the same day. After a break the reception was supposed to take place. That is when Rhea started her enquiry as to what exactly happened. Pooja somehow was done with the sangeet but was still thinking about him.  Rhea had to literally shake her out of the dream world to bring her back to her senses.
“Oh yeah I didn’t tell you. I met a guy in the kitchen, he is so handsome. He was standing there in the corner and I went blank looking at him. He was looking so very handsome. I think I found Mr. Pooja. I think I'll get married to him and have 2 kids. We'll go on world trips together”
"Hey hold on missy. Which corner?” asked Rhea in a strange Sherlock tone.
"What??"
"Which corner was he standing in?"
"The left one from the stage" answered Pooja
"I was standing right there but who are you .... oh my god OMG" after saying this she started laughing so loudly that all those having dinner looked up. Pooja didn’t know how to respond and she literally covered her face. Rhea couldn’t stop her laughter and she said
"Hey he is our cousin Rohit.”
“What???”
“Ya remember? Your mom was talking about Rekha aunty from America”
“Holy crap”

Pooja was helping the bride get ready for the reception.
Rhea came looking for some rose water and asked Pooja about the same but she was rather upset and disappointed that her fairy tale love story ended before it even started.
“Heyyyyy Pooja” said she loudly and whispered “In dreams with your brother?”
Pooja literally grunted and asked “What do you want?“
“Rose water” said Rhea in a rather submissive tone.
“It is there in the 2nd drawer, take and leave.” Lashed out Pooja
“What did I do?” asked Rhea in a sober tone and had no option but to leave.
She left the room with rose water. Pooja, once done with the makeup and stuff accompanied the bride to the stage. After making her sit in the center stage, Pooja went down and sat in the 1st row next to Rhea. Her mom came rushing and asked Pooja to accompany her.
“Just now I sat down” thought she, not interested in the wedding anymore.
Her mom held her and started moving fast and so did Rhea . She went and stopped next to a group of people
“Hey Rekha, this is my daughter Pooja and Pooja this is my cousin Rekha from US"
“Oh snap it’s that America aunty” thought Pooja
“Oh my god, you have grown so much. Hey I saw her when she was 3. She was wearing nothing but an underwear, look at her now, baby in an undie to lady in a saree” guffawed Rekha and more to Pooja’s dismay everyone joined her, making Pooja uncomfortable to the core. Pooja was so irritated and embarrassed but maintained that smile and thought to herself.
“Ya right, 23 years later you see me and what do u expect me to wear, stupid aunty. I’m going to kill my mom” raged Pooja in her head so loudly that people could have actually heard her thoughts.
She started looking here and there as she couldn’t hold on to that smile for long.
“Wait I’ll introduce you to my son” Rekha started scanning the crowd.
“Rohitttt”
“Oh my god noooo” thought Pooja to avoid further embarrassment, she didn’t want to look at that handsome face again.
“I’ll get him aunty” said Rhea and went close as he was chatting with a group of guys in a distance.
“Hey Pooja, don’t mistake me I was just kidding” said Rekha with a sheepish smile.
Pooja just smiled, cursing Rekha in her head.
“Here he comes, this is Rohit my son”
Pooja turned to her right and there he was smiling at her. Her face blossomed like a lotus with utter bliss.
“Hi Pooja, nice to meet you” said Rohit and she replied “Hey Rohit, trust me it’s a pleasure meeting you. Nice red shirt by the way” with total enthusiasm.
Pooja, all of a sudden transformed from a damsel in distress to a lady full of bliss. Rhea who was watching the whole drama didn’t understand what was going on.
Pooja excused herself and moved out of that place holding Rhea’s hand. She was looking here and there searching for something.
Rhea couldn’t figure out what was going on. Before she could say anything Pooja stopped and pointed her finger at something. Rhea looked there. She looked back at Pooja, silence prevailed for few seconds and both started laughing like crazy.
Pooja had pointed to the guy in blue and black. Smitten for sure, the guy was still smiling at her and yes he winked again.
